We believe that dental gingival inflammation and infection is cause by many factors- Quality of the patient's immune system Contours and quality of dental restorations Functional stability Non-biological material reacting against a person's immune system We also believe that the most important factor is the presence of pathogens (an infectious agent). Pathogens are bacteria, virus, parasites, and fungi. We provide standard of care non-surgical therapies for these

conditions, but we also enhance these procedures by using anti-pathogen irrigation as well as
at-home protocols to assist in combating these foreign invaders. Reduction or elimination of the pathogens is key to maintaining or creating a healthy periodontium.
To help identify these pathogens and to motivate our patients, we utilize phase contrast dark field microscopy. Being able to see pathogens helps both the staff and the patient. Pocket reduction and increased tissue health is accomplished when appropriate diagnosis, debris and tartar removal via root planning and scaling, and the added use of anti microbial agents placed subgingivally as described above, are employed. If surgical intervention is indicated, the use of the new Millenium Periolase™ laser with patented LANAP protocol is employed in our office. If any other specialized treatments are necessary, referrals are made to the appropriate providers.
